Blackbaud Data Security Incident

In July 2020, the Bay Area Community Foundation, Delta College Foundation, Saginaw Community Foundation, and Saginaw Valley State University Foundation were contacted by Blackbaud, a large service provider of customer relationship management systems for institutions of higher education and nonprofit organizations, informing us that Blackbaud was the victim of a ransomware attack in May 2020 affecting many users of their platform globally.

Upon notification from Blackbaud, the organizations listed above took immediate steps, including sending a letter of demand following a concerning delay in the company’s sharing of important information. Blackbaud has assured us that the incident has been resolved and no donor or constituent information is at risk.

Additional details regarding this incident have been shared in a separate communication to our donors and constituents via regular mail and email.
